Early Type 1 Star of the Hero of the Soviet Union
Lieutenant-General Hohlov P.I.
Bestowed title of HSU for historic first bombing of Berlin (August 8, 1941).


Receipient of 2 Orders of Lenin, Order of Nakhimov II Class, 3 Orders of Red Banner, 2 Orders of Patriotic War 1st class, Order of Patriotic War 2nd class, Order of Red Star, and medals.

Biography (in Russian):

Хохлов Петр Ильич — генерал-лейтенант авиации, Герой Советского Союза. Родился 12 января 1910 г. в с. Есипово Серебряно-Прудского района в семье рабочего. Окончил 7 классов. Работал в Москве токарем на заводе. В Военно-морском флоте с 1932 г. В 1933 г. окончил Вольскую военно-техническую авиационную школу, в 1936-м курсы при Ейском военно-морском авиационном училище. Участник советско-финляндской войны 1939-1940 гг. В боях Великой Отечественной войны с июня 1941 г. Флагманский штурман 1-го минно-торпедного авиационного полка (8-я бомбардировочная авиационная бригада, ВВС Балтийского флота). Капитан Хохлов в ночь на 8 августа 1941 г. в составе группы бомбардировщиков участвовал в первом налете советской авиации на Берлин. Звание Героя Советского Союза присвоено 13 августа 1941 г. Впоследствии воевал над Черным и Северным морями. Совершил лично 192 боевых вылета. В 1950 г. окончил Военную академию Генштаба. Был начальником штаба авиации ВМФ. С 1971 г. генерал-лейтенант в запасе. В 1982 г. вышла в свет книга П. И. Хохлова «Над тремя морями». Умер в 1990 г. Похоронен в Москве. Награжден двумя орденами Ленина, тремя орденами Красного Знамени, орденом Нахимова II степени, двумя орденами Отечественной воины I степени, Отечественной войны II степени, орденом Красной Звезды, медалями.
